We believe that as a Group we have largely achieved what we set out to achieve – to raise awareness. We are aware of a significant number of objections to the Chelmer mead proposal having been made and we are closely monitoring the outcome of the consultation and await UDCs decision on the Chelmer Mead proposal.
UDC will review and assess all submissions made during the consultation process and submit a final report to the Council for review and approval in March/April 2008. Should the report determine that any new alternative option meets the Core Strategy guidelines and is preferable to the preferred option 4, then UDC will likely go out to a fresh round of public consultations.
The final Core Strategy will be submitted to the Government in the Spring of 2008, but this may be delayed should there be another round of public consultations. The final Core Strategy will be submitted to Hazel Blears Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, to check that UDC have followed the appropriate procedures and consultation process before it is formally approved or it could be subject to public examination.
Chater Homes’ revised housing proposal was submitted to UDC on the final day of consultation, 11th January 2008. A copy of their full submission documents can be located from the document archive.
The Group are currently preparing to formally respond to UDC regarding the Chater Homes final submission.
